CSGLO

The Clerkwell Standards in Government, Leadership & Oversight (CSGLO) initiative evaluates whether public services and oversight bodies handle complaints in a manner that leads to resolution and systemic improvement.

CSGLO works to advance transparency, fairness, and justice across public life by evaluating adherence to ethical standards, including neutrality, honesty, lawfulness, transparency, fairness, and accountability.

Clerkwell Standards in Government, Leadership & Oversight (CSGLO) conducts independent, data-informed assessments to evaluate how effectively public institutions meet their accountability obligations and align with public expectations. As an independent body free from government mandate, CSGLO provides impartial, transparent analysis and oversight — using survey, administrative, and systems data — to challenge bureaucracy, identify systemic failings, and uphold the highest standards of accountability.

This approach is simple yet powerful: CSGLO analyses the complaints processes of various institutions and oversight bodies, evaluating how well they fulfill their guarantees to meet public priorities. The goal is to deliver clear, honest assessments of effectiveness, measured against legislative and ethical standards, as well as public expectations.

CSGLO does not redo investigations nor offer legal opinions; CSGLO provides a balanced public assessment — highlighting areas of excellence, identifying shortcomings, and offering a comprehensive view of the organisation’s performance. These reviews, audits and summaries are designed to be accessible and informative, providing the public with the insights needed to understand where justice is served and where it may be falling short.

You can watch the introduction video here. To request a public review of your complaint, click on the name of the public body that you wish to have reviewed. Please ensure that you meet the following criteria:

  • You must have completed the complaints process with the organisation you had a grievance with.
  • You must have submitted a request for review to the relevant oversight body (if applicable).
  • The oversight body must have provided you with their findings and final response, or have declined to review your case.
  • If you are struggling to navigate this process due to vulnerability, trauma, or other exceptional circumstances, CSGLO offer a streamlined point of contact to assist you. Click here to see if you meet the criteria for vulnerability and access support.

Please note: The evaluation process adheres to strict standards. All findings will be published publicly. You must agree to this in advance. All personally identifiable information will be removed unless there is a compelling public interest to disclose such data.
